letter forty nine

Dear Love,

I appreciate your admiration of Plato. After all, it’s your platonic variation that’s been sustaining me for the past two or so decades. I’ve had a couple of chance encounters with your flighty touch-and-go romantic iteration, but it’s your manifestation between two people that need nothing more than solid friendship that brings a consistent smile to my face. Don’t get me wrong, you’re great when you’re feeling romantic, but if I relied on you only for that, do you have any idea how miserable I’d be? I know that there’s reason to hope that you’ll favor me with consistent romantic attention, but for the time being, I’m just grateful that your capacity for platonic companionship is so high. Stick to what you’re good at, and when you’re feeling amorous for real this time, you know where I live and you’ve got my number.

Somewhat sincerely,

Textbook ENFP, if you're into that stuff (I am SO into that stuff). I love mountains and the ocean and my largest ambition in life is getting all of the people I love to live on the same block, to cook dinner, and talk with them every night.
